Dancehall sensation 1Skimask is the latest Jamaican artiste to be signed by a major label following his recent deal with US major Epic Records.
Vice President of A&R for Epic Record Ty Fly welcomed the “Dawkiniis hitmaker to the family via his social media. The news was also reshared by 1Skimask via his IG stories.
The Tru Ambassador artiste has amassed a solid fanbase over the years through his artistic diversity between his comedic alter ego Valdamore in addition to his music releases, which have been viral hits in dancehall space.
1Skimask follows the footsteps of New York-based Dancehall star Tina (formerly Hood Celebrity), who was also signed to the label by Ty, for which churned out the platinum-selling single “Walking Trophy”.
Valdomore is known for his witty lyricism and dramatic yet engaging delivery, which has seen him stand out in his own lane among his peers with the deal representing the international allure and attraction to his content.
1skimask has delivered several dancehall bangers since his official entry, including Falcon-produced “Ye Ye Ye” and “Life of a G” and his breakout hit “Dawkniss“
The signing adds to the growing interest of mainstream labels in dancehall acts with stars such as Masicka, Teejay and Shenseea previously signing to Def Jam, Warner Musci and Interscope Records.
