The newly built Christel House Jamaica School located in Twickenham Park, St Catherine has officially been opened.

The institution, which is owned by global children’s charity organisation, Christel House International, which officially opened its doors on Friday, December 10, will provide tuition-free quality education and ancillary services to students aged three to 18, living in the parish.

In addition to academics and leadership and character education, the school has committed to providing each enrolled student with books, uniforms, information technology equipment, transportation, breakfast, lunch and snacks, and health services.

Students will also benefit from support and counselling for an additional five years after graduating high school.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Andrew Holness expressed that the school will add great value to the community as it will set a standard to break educational inequalities in society.

“The environment in which children are hosted is a critical variable [for] transformation [and] it’s very important that when we speak about the transformation of education, a part of that [involves] the infrastructure,” he said.

He further added that it is a first-class educational system that “anywhere you go in the world…will meet the highest standards.”
