“I don’t want to only be an Olympic baby,” says Double Olympic sprint Champion Elaine Thompson Herah in describing one of her biggest motivations to perform well this season.

Speaking ahead of her recently Diamond league win in Morocco, Thompson -Herah shared that her main target is to add that missing title to her already impressive cabinet which includes Olympic champion.

The Jamaican who has been unbeaten thus far in her outdoor season didn’t mince her words, as she clearly outlined her desire for that title.

“I don’t want to only be an Olympic baby,” Thomspson-Herah said “I want a taste of that gold from the World Championships. It will be very important to me to add that gold to my tally “she added.

The Jamaican who has a silver medal in the 200 meters from the 2015 games, after just being piped on the line by a fast-finishing Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands, has looked in good nick all season in 100m.

However, with minimal 200 meters races thus far, it remains unclear if she will double or stick with the shorter sprint, for which she has the second fastest time ever with 10.54 seconds.

Her pursuits of a maiden World Champs gold, will however have strong competition from reigning 100m Champion Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce who has posted the fastest time (10.67s) over the distance this year.

With her sights also set on the 100 meters world record of 10.49 seconds, it’s remains a waiting game to see if it will come at the Championships or at the Jamaican National trials, which is set for June.
