With Christmas fast approaching and the markets expected to be filled with vendors and consumers, the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is urging all vendors in the markets and on the streets to clean up after themselves.

The aim is to ensure all Jamaicans have a clean Christmas and New Year.

To aid with that, NSWMA’s Executive Director Audley Gordon, says the “Plan is to move into town centres and collect waste as quickly as possible.” However, he highlighted that this effort will be severely hampered if garbage is scattered throughout different sections of the nation.

Understanding this, he is appealing to vendors not to leave garbage at their place of business after they have completed their vending activities.
