A 7-year-old Chinese boy who had complained about a mysterious bad smell for two years reportedly had a small screw stuck in his left nostril.

According to reports, the unidentified boy from the Henan Province of Jiaozuo had occasionally complained to his parents about a mysterious odour for two years. However, the source was never found.

It’s understood that the claims were initially dismissed as youthful antics until they became more frequent in recent times, which compelled the now-concerned parents to seek medical examination for the child.

They were given a shock following a CT scan of his head, which revealed a mysterious black mass in the child’s nose.

It’s understood that the mysterious object was so far up his nasal cavity that doctors were concerned about the risk of serious damage while removing it, however, allowing it to remain was not an option as the nose seemed to have gotten an infection.

After consulting and getting consent from the parents, an ENT specialist decided to operate on the boy.

It’s reported that the small screw was successfully dislodged from the boy’s nose after three different approaches by doctors.

“Because the object was stuck in the nasal cavity for so long, it was impossible to see what it was at first,” a hospital spokesperson told Elephant News. “After careful cleaning, it was discovered that it was a metal screw.”

Following the procedure, the boy is said to have fully recovered, with the bad smell no longer a complaint for the first time after two years.
