Reggae Girlz striker Shania Hayles scored her first maiden career Hattrick as Newcastle United Women played out a dramatic 3-3 draw against Charlton Athletic in the FA Women’s National League.
Hayles, who was named in the Reggae Girlz squad to face France, underlined her selection as early as the fifth minute after dispatching a cut-back pass inside the box from teammate Andrews to make it 1-0.
The Jamaican doubled the score nine minutes later following a brilliant solo run from midfield, driving into the 18-yards before firing past a backtracking Charlton Keeper to make it 2-0 inside a quarter of an hour.
After Katie Bradley cut the deficit with a 49th-minute strike, Hayles restored that two-goal margin following a 68th-minute penalty conversion for a 3-1 score going into the final 20 minutes.
It was Hayles’ fifth goal in six games since joining the club in the summer.
The “lady Magpies” were, however, unable to preserve their advantage. Late drama, which saw them concede two goals in added time, disrupted their celebrations with strikes from Kayleigh Barton and Bradley in the 94th and 95th minutes, respectively.
