A Malaysian woman who had been caring for her bedridden husband for six years following a car accident went viral following news that her husband divorced her to marry another woman following his recovery.

It’s understood that the woman, identified as Nurul Syazwani, documented her daily life as her husband’s caretaker on social media, showcasing her routine, which included feeding the man through a nasogastric tube, changing his diapers and helping him shower.

Her dedication to catering for her husband attracted tens of thousands of fans on Facebook alone, many of whom expressed shock following news of her separation.

The fans learned of the unexpected development from Nurul, who cheekily congratulated her ex-husband and his new bride in a Facebook post.

“Congratulations to my husband, I hope you are happy with the one you chose. Aifa Aizam, please take good care of him like I did. I am done with him, now it is your turn to take over,” Nurul wrote in a since-deleted post.

Following the post, news of Nurul’s divorce quickly engulfed Malaysian chat rooms and social media, with many users in disbelief and disgust at her husband’s decision.

Despite the support she has received, Nurul has encouraged remorse for her now ex-husband and his wife, adding that they agreed to work together to raise their daughter.

I want to apologize to my ex-husband, his new wife, and their families regarding the viral post on Facebook. Everything that happened was my mistake,” Nurul wrote. “Everyone is wondering and tagging me on Facebook. So my posting on Facebook is not aimed at exposing shame or sarcasm but to avoid slander.”
