Italian social media has been in a frenzy following the recent arrest of A respected Italian nun named Sister Anna Donelli, who is reportedly taken into custody under suspicion of working with a powerful mafia enterprise, the ‘Ndragheta mafia family.

According to reports, Sister Anna, 57, was among 25 people arrested following an investigation into the illicit activities of the ‘Ndragheta in Brescia, with authorities reporting strong suspicions of her long-time involvement with a mafia family

“Sister Anna Donelli is one of us,” Stefano Tripodi, leader of the Tripodi clan based in Brescia, can be heard telling one of his subordinates in a wiretap recording presented in Court by Italian police.

It’s reported that The crime family, which operates a scrap metal business, and the Ndragheta family, regarded as the most powerful mafia organisation in the country, share a long-time association to run one of the most sophisticated crime organisations in the world.

According to Italian investigators, Sister Donelli used her volunteer work in prisons to facilitate communication between Tripodi and his incarcerated goons in recorded wiretaps, police say.

It’s further reported that the once respected religious figure is now under house arrest awaiting trial into the matter of collusion with a known criminal gang.
