Vybz Kartel’s upcoming visit to Trinidad and Tobago, in the lead-up to his performance, could face restrictions following reports that his movements and media appearances will be limited, as per a directive of the country’s new Minister of Defence.

A recent report by local media house, Trinidad and Tobago Guardian, stated that an “immigration order, by Defence Minister Wayne Sturge, voided kartel’s scheduled interviews both on radio and TV, as well as a local press drop-in which was reportedly slated for May 27.

It was further reported that a planned “meet and greet, a visit to a school or youth centre, a cultural lunch with community leaders on the 28th is also set to be scrapped as a result of the order, according to the media outlet.

It’s understood that the adjustments were confirmed by Minister Surge, who reportedly noted the revisions were based on concerns of his Palmer’s interaction with the nation’s ‘vulnerable youths,’ due to his previous legal issues “, particularly as his conviction was not based on merit but on a legal technicality.”

Kartel, who has been performing at sold-out shows both in the Caribbean and the USA, is scheduled to arrive in the country on May 26 in preparation for his concert on May 31
