An American man is reportedly facing a lengthy prison sentence following his conviction of impersonating a flight attendant to get over 100 free flights.

According to reports, Federal prosecutors have accused 35-year-old Tirone Alexander of accessing the secure area of an airport under false pretences and committing wire fraud at least 120 times between 2018 and 2024.

It’s understood that Mr. Alexander manipulated a common airline policy which allows flight attendants and pilots to benefit from complimentary flights

It’s alleged that he, purported to be a flight attendant for regional airline carriers between 2013 and 2015 by going to various airline websites and selected the “flight attendant” option during the online check-in process.

It’s reported that he was able to carry out his activities due to the forms with fictitious information not being verified by the respective companies.

“The evidence at trial also showed that Alexander posed as a flight attendant on three other airline carriers,” the Prosecution said in a statement. “Ultimately, Alexander booked more than 120 free flights by falsely claiming to be a flight attendant.” 

Destinations such as Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles were among the 120 fraudulently booked flights. Prosecution argued, as per reports of evidence,

Following the summation of arguments, Mr. Alexander was reportedly found guilty of four counts of wire fraud (each carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison) and one count of fraudulently accessing a restricted area of ​​the airport, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

His sentencing in this case is set for August 25.
