Former Back-to-back 200m Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah and World 200m Gold Medallist Shericka Jackson delivered impressive early-season performances during their respective runs at the Velocity Fest Track Meet at the National Stadium on Saturday night.

Lining up in her first 200m of the season, Thompson logged nifty 22.61s, showing glimpses of that returning speed from the 60m openers to comfortably claim victory over the half-lap event, which also included Women’s 100m hurdles world record holder Tobi Aumusan of Nigeria, who finished second in 23.25s and women’s hurldes national record holder Ackera Nugent, 23.35s for third.

Jackson marked her velocity fest debut with a win in the 400m, stopping the clock at 52.05s as she continues a solid background work for endurance before stepping down to the sprints later in the season.

Both of course, skipping the indoor World Indoor champs to focus on the outdoor season as they aim at a comprehensive return to full fitness ahead of the respective European Circuits and leagues.
