Vybz Kartel’s expansive international music appeal beyond dancehall continues to be affirmed as his 2020 album “To Tanesha” now jostles among current top-streamed projects on the U.S. Apple Music Hip-Hop/ Rap chart.

The 10-track project, released during his incarceration, currently sits just outside of the top 10 albums on the U.S. streaming chart at number 14 among his rap counterparts.

The album’s resurgent charting shows Kartel’s relationship-themed, dedicatory drop being directly competitive against projects from rap heavyweights Drake, Gunna and Dave, among others in the genre.

A dancehall project’s placement on a hip-hop chart is an uncommon feat; however, it speaks volumes about cross-genre appeal and audience reach beyond the familial diaspora. Further verifying the “worl boss” moniker of the Dancehall juggernaut.

The charting further underscores the level of discovery of his older catalogue among new audiences outside of Reggae/ Dancehall.

The “Gaza” top man, of course, has been one of the hottest commodities since his release, linking up with some of the biggest names such as Travis Scot, Tyla, and Chris Brown, projects which have all topped respective Billboard and streaming charts.

“To Tanesha” charting also speaks to the impact of his older catalogue and the increasing discovery and interest in his discography among new audiences.

The most recent evidence was his smash “Fever“ officially going Gold in the UK earlier in July, having already gained a similar certification in the U.S. Given his highly anticipated European tour paired with major international collabs in the works, his reach, impact, audience and certifications are set to continue its boom.
