A new era at Apple has officially begun as the resignation of Tim Cook as the company’s CEO, officially takes effect on Tuesday, marking the end of a remarkable 15-year tenure as the head of the tech giant.

Cook’s announced departure, which dominated much of the business and tech headlines over the past week, also comes ahead of its highly anticipated Apple event launch set for September 9, with the company set to announce its latest models of devices, including its iPhone 18 line, as well as its newest iOS updates.

The timing of the course could also be seen as a soft launch to perhaps the directional focus of the company under its new boss, John Ternus, which is likely to be more centred on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its products and services, expected also be announced at the event.

Cook, who took the reins as the head of Apple in 2011 following the passing of founder Steve Jobs, leaves the company as one of the most revered CEO’s in tech and business, having taken the company’s valuation from US $347 million to a record-shattering $4.6 trillion enterprise under stewardship. In doing so, it also became the first to break through the 11-figure barrier twice, with annual revenue reported to be upwards of $108 billion.
