Dancehall star Alkaline’s international musical impact was reaffirmed after the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ State Senate recognised him with an “Official Citation” for his “contribution to Jamaican music and Culture.”
The Citation read:
“Your Ground Ground Breaking contribution to Jamaican music and Culture & Global Influence Within The Dancehall Genre & Shapping the Future of Caribbean Music With his Unique Sound and Lyrical Prowess”
The accolade, which was officially issued on Sunday (March 30), was shared by his sister and manager, Kereena Beckford, via her social media on Monday, where she thanked the senate for the recognition while toasting to the honour with fans.

Alkaline, who been among the most recognisable names to emerge from the genre in the last decade, has been enjoying very high demand for shows in Europe and the US, where he has been mainly based in recent times.
The “Formula” hitmaker who officially confirmed his prophetic mainstream success in 2016, has grown to become more than music, a cultural staple for international dancehall lovers, which was solidified by his partnership with major global fashion house Balenciaga and the success of his “New Rulez Festival” event.
