Tech Billionaire Bill Gates has reportedly plans to give away 99% of his wealth in the next 20 years, following plans to close the Gates Foundation in 2045.
On Thursday, the Microsoft Co-founder, who previously shared his plans to give away his wealth before his death, updated his intentions to accertate those philanthropic efforts over the next two decades via a blog post.
“People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that ‘he died rich’ will not be one of them,” Gates wrote. “There are too many urgent problems to solve for me to hold onto resources that could be used to help people.”
The tech mogul, who previously held the title as the world’s richest, currently stands at number five on Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index with an estimated $168 billion.
The update comes three years after making a social media post of his goal to eventually fall “off the list of the world’s richest people.”
The Gates Foundation, launched in 2000, has reportedly $100 billion to global causes particularly working to eradicate diseases and poverty, address climate change and expand access to healthcare and education, as per NBC
