The global impact and legacy of Reggae Legend Beres Hammond was further underlined after he was honoured with an official proclamation by the City of Boston and given his very own day for his outstanding contribution to music.

Hammond was on hand to accept his proclamation of recognition, which was presented by Boston’s Caribbean Cultural Advisor, Bianca Rose, on Behalf of Mayor Michelle Wu, officially declaring August 13, “Beres Hammond Day”.

The recognition is the latest honour for the music legend, who was bestowed the Order of Distinction Award, Jamaica’s sixth-highest, during the island’s Independence Day Celebrations at the Grand Gala in Kingston on August 6.

Hammond, one of the most respected voices in global music, is known for his silky smooth vocals and captivating delivery of some of the most mesmerising Reggae ballads. Songs as “Rock Away”, “What One Dance Can Do,” and “Tempted to Touch” are among the trove of global classics by the singer, which have also been the inspiration of many international stars over the years.
