Reggae Girlz football superstar Khadija “Bunny” Shaw again proved to be the “X” factor for English giants Manchester City Women, after scoring the crucial goal to rescue a thrilling 1-1 draw against Spanish La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid in pulsating Women’s Champions League action.
Shaw’s goal came in the 51st minute, following a threatening build-up by the English Champs inside Madrid’s defensive third. The Jamaican showed expert composure under pressure after collecting a delightful through pass just inside the top of the 18-yard box with her back to goal, then pivoting into space and threading a shot between the onrushing defenders into the back of the net. That goal, her fifth of the season, cancelled Linda Caicedo’s 29th-minute opener for Real, as both teams had to settle for a share of the points after the final
City is currently 11th in the 18-team standings on two points following their opening two drawn results. They’re set to be back in Super League Action on Sunday when they tackle Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
