The growing international influence of Afro-beats mega star Burna Boy was further underlined after he received his own day in the major US city, Boston, Massachusetts on Sunday.
The “African Giant” was notified about the honour during his performance on Sunday. He was officially presented with the proclamation by the City’s Council President that certified March 2 as “Burna Boy Day.”

The Grammy-winner, who has been one of the faces to spearhead the global mainstream rise of the Afro-based music over the last five years, has made several historical firsts in the US. This includes becoming the first African to sell out the iconic Madison Square Garden, in 2022, before doing the same for a stadium a year later with his sold out show at Citi Field stadium, also in New York.
