The Indian city of Vadodara has reportedly been plagued with giant crocodiles following the overflowing of a local river due to record rainfalls in the area.

Being on the lookout for these reptiles has become a daily chore for residents of Vadodara, who have expressed concerns for their safety, livestock and pets.

Several videos of the Crocs walking through the city streets, laying on rooftops, or swimming in canals with dead animals clenched between their jaws have been circulating online in the wake of recent floods.

According to reports, at least two dozen were caught between August 27 and 29.

“The smallest crocodile we rescued was two feet long, while the largest was 14 feet long, caught on Thursday from Kamnath Nagar situated along the river. Local residents alerted us about this huge crocodile,” said Karansinh Rajput, Vadodara Range Forest Officer, speaking to local media.

He continued; “Two other crocodiles, 11 feet long, were also rescued on Thursday from EME Circle and an open area near the Zoology Department of MS University.”

The situation marks a double whammy for the residents as they not only contend with the threat of flooding with the monsoons they’re now forced to trek cautiously during their commute due to new reptilian neighbours.
