In one of the most peculiar reports of a love triangle the case of Liu Liange, former Chairman of the Bank of China, allegedly persuaded his son to end his engagement to his fiancée so he could swoop in and marry her himself.

According to reports, Liu Liange most recently made news headlines last November after receiving a suspended death sentence with a two-year reprieve for accepting 121 million yuan ($17 million) in bribes and issuing illegal loans of over 3.32 billion yuan ($450 million) during Chairmanship of the Bank of China his tenure.

It’s understood that Liu started orchestrating his plans to claim his new bride immediately after being introduced following reports that he began pressuring his son into breaking up with his would-be daughter-in-law within days of their meeting.

It’s reported that the former banker spoke lowly of her family background, painting her as an opportunist, as the son eventually folded under the relentless pressure to end the relationship.

Liu Liange then set his son up with the daughter of an old friend as a”suitable” girlfriend to ensure he was occupied during the pursuit, while he used his connections to locate his son’s ex-girlfriend and began showering her with gifts, local media reports.

Six months following the coerced break-up of his engagement, Liu Liange Jr got the shocking news that his former fiancee was set to be his new stepmother.

The marriage bliss was, however, shortlived as forced to resign from his post shortly after being reported to the Commission for Discipline Inspection where he was eventually tried for corruption.
