Hip-hop superproducer DJ Mustard’s connection to Jamaica and its culture was underlined after sharing that his father is Jamaican.
The “Not Like Us” hitmaker shared details of his Caribbean background while speaking with Caribbean media outlet Tempo Networks during a media stop at the recent Grammys ceremony in Los Angeles.
Mustard also listed Popcaan as the artiste he would be interested in working with should he delve into Dancehall-inspired productions in the future, when quizzed about incorporating any Caribbean-based sounds into his projects.
He noted that Unruly Boss and Burna Boy are two acts that he would be compelled to get in the lab with for any Caribbean or Afro-infused projects.
Mustard has been the most having to enjoy his most successful year as a producer following the commercial success of his production on Kendrick Lamar’s global smash “Not Like Us” which recently swept the five categories nominated in, including the coveted record of the year.
Mustard who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.
While it would be a major record should Popcaan link up, on any potential considerations that connect seem very much far-fetched reality, given the current Kendrick Lamar/Drake feud and Popcaan’s loyalty to Drizzy and his OVO imprint.
