Rasheed Dwyer will be Jamaica’s lone representative in the men’s 200m semi-finals after Yohan Blake pulled out of the event and Julian Forte finished down the track at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games a short while ago.

Dwyer, the national champion running from lane seven in heat one, was out fast and came off the curve in second but later swept by the field to win in 20.31s.

Forte, running from lane six in the final heat, got a good start but struggled to keep pace with the field off the curve and ended up in seventh in 20.65s.

Meanwhile, Blake, who attributed his disappointing performance in the men’s 100m to a chronic right leg injury, was a no show. He had on Sunday expressed uncertainty about taking up a lane in the 200m.

“I am not sure about the 200m as yet, I will talk to my coach and we will take it from there,” Blake said then.
