2020 European Football Championships finalist England preserved their quest for a return following a nail-biting 5-3 penalty win over Switzerland in Germany on Saturday.

The “Three Lions,” who have looked abysmal during their 2024 Euros campaign, seemed to be heading out of the tournament after conceding a 75th-minute goal from Swiss striker Breel Embolo to trail 1-0.

England, however, responded in ‘kind’ five minutes later following a Bukayo Saka wonder strike to level the encounter in minute 80, which stood for the remainder of regulation and added time, sending the encounter to penalties.

With memories of that heartbreaking finals loss to Italy via penalty shoot-out lingering, the former world champs showed more composure this time around with perfect five attempts after two Swiss misses to book a final four spot.

They are set to face the Netherlands in the Semi-final two of the tournament set for Wednesday.
