As the countdown continues to the highly anticipated final Fast & Furious movie, fans of the car-culture action flick could be strapping in for an extended run following news that the franchise has been greenlit for its own TV series, executive produced by lead star Vin Diesel.

According to reports, the series around the high-octane drama encased in car race culture and lifestyle is shifting gears for a more personalised extension of the popular movie franchise with its own series set to be on Uniersal Studios’ streaming platform Peacock, as per Deadline.

News of the series approval comes months after Diesel hinted, as the expansion into the TV space, among several projects around the franchise, during a Universal/Upfront event in New York in May, Dealdline reports: “As you all know, we are very precious about these movies but over the last decade, we’ve realized that the fans have wanted more, they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories,” he said at the Upfront. “And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space.

The upcoming Fast Furious: Titled Forever Fast, which acts as the second of a two-part climax to the vastly successful franchise spanning over 20 years and 10 films, is set to be released in 2028 following several delays.
