First-round voting for the 2025 Grammys officially open

The quest for music’s biggest prize has officially begun, as the first round of voting for the 67th Grammy Awards in 2025 opened on Friday.

This opening phase, which runs from October 4-15, is one of three rounds of voting before the awards of the respected categories are announced in February.

Projects eligible for next year’s Grammy consideration and nomination had to be released between September 16, 2023, and August 30, 2024, as per the Recording Academy.

Several top Dancehall and Reggae acts have released projects within the eligibility period of consideration for the “Best Reggae Album” category.

Shenseea’s “Never Get’s Late Here“, Spice’ “Mirror 2025″, Masicka’s “Generation of Kings”, and Rygin King’s “Recovery” are among noted projects from the dancehall side.

Stephen Marley with “Old Soul, Lee Scratch Perry’s -“King Perry”, Romain Virgo’s “The Gentleman“, and Buju Banton’s “Born for Greatness” are among eligible contenders among reggae releases.

Kabaka Pyramid won the 2024 Grammy for Best Reagge Album Award for his critically acclaimed “The Kalling”.
