Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of crime, Cleon March has outlined that the recent killing which claimed the lives of two individuals at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens is directly linked to an ongoing gang feud.

The deceased, Shanice Dean, 27, and an unidentified male were shot and killed when gunmen attacked a group of mourners at the burial park.

At least four people were shot and rushed to the hospital where Dean and the unidentified victim was pronounced dead.

Reports outlined that the funeral procession was allegedly trailed from Kingston and attacked at the burial plot. Further reports also alluded that multiple rounds were discharged by the gunmen in the direction of the attendees.

Meanwhile, ACP March also alluded that the gunmen’s intended target was a relative of the woman for whom the memorial service was held.

“We are theorizing that this is a spillover from a gang feud and was carried out by gangsters in Seaview Gardens.” ACP March explained.

As such, ACP March has also indicated that increased efforts will be made by the police to ensure the safety of the individual in question.
