Legendary music and entertainment icon, Jamaica’s Grace Jones, added another accolade to her already expansive resume of recognition as her 1981 Pop/Dance classic “Pull Up To My Bumper” was officially certified silver for sales of 200,000 units in the UK.
The track’s status as a certified release in the UK market was officially verified by the British Phonographic Institute (BPI) on Friday.

The UK certification is the latest acclaim garnered by the Jones’ track, having also been ranked among Billboard’s top 100 Dance Songs of all time in April, as previously reported by SleekJamaica Media.

“Pull Up To My Bumper”, which has remained a bedrock for many samples and a musical muse for countless covers and inspiration for several hit productions across genres and pop culture references.
The certification reaffirms the multi-generational reach that the iconic single continues to command the decades after breaking into the UK’s top singles chart, topping out at number 53 in 81, before gaining a new peak at number 12 on its 1986 re-release.
In addition to its UK charting, the uptempo electro-dance track, which was the third single from her fifth album, Nightclubbing, was a massive hit across the Atlantic, peaking at number two on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
The single, which became an international cross-genre classic, formed the foundation of several other noted songs, including a hit cover by Dancehall icon Patra in 1995.
