Police Commissioner Major Antony Anderson has outlined that increased tactics are being undertaken by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to decrease the high levels of crime by the end of June.

One such tactic as underscored by Commissioner Anderson involves deploying quick response teams to western parishes such as Hanover, Westmoreland, and St James.

Commissioner Anderson alluded that these parishes boasts high levels of criminal activities such as gang related conflicts, mob killings and lottery scamming.

As such, Commissioner Anderson notes that deploying specialized officers to these areas of concern will aid in stemming the high tide of crime and will significantly boost JCF’s capacity to respond to the challenges faced in these areas.

“We recognize that we have specific challenges in Western Jamaica, and we are taking steps to address them. We have boosted our quick response team in St. James, and plans are well advanced to establish quick response teams to other parishes out west. There are sixty members currently under training ahead of being deployed to Area One and this is advanced tactical training ” Major Anderson explained.

In the interim, Commissioner Anderson outlined that steps are also being taken by JCF to cauterize lottery scamming and other transnational crimes such as money laundering and drug trafficking.
