Former Wealth Advisor of Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) Jean-Ann Panton was this afternoon remanded until February 24 following her appearance in the Home Circuit Court.

The accused was also denied bail.

Earlier today, Panton was slapped with multiple charges including larceny as a servant, forgery, uttering forged documents, as well as breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act, specifically engaging in transactions involving criminal property, and breaches of the Cybercrimes Act in relation to access with intent to commit fraud.

Prior to the charges being laid, however, Panton was interviewed by investigators in the presence of her attorney on Tuesday and Thursday following the seizure of electronic gadgets and documents during a raid at her house on Friday, January 20.

During today’s hearing, Panton’s attorney Tamika Harris made an application for Humanitarian bail on the premise that her client suffers from a dislocated hip which Panton was reportedly born with.

The attorney also presented a medical certificate outlining Panton’s medical history; the certificate however only highlighted that the accused suffered from diabetes thus rendering the humanitarian bail void.

Presiding Judge, Lorna Shelly Williams, also argued that the medical report is lacking and noted that a certificate supporting her claims must be presented at the next hearing.
