16-year-old Lamine Yamal created European football history on Tuesday as he became the youngest-ever scorer in the Championships as Spain eliminated France 2-1 to advance to the tournament final on Tuesday.

Lamal, who has been a standout player since his Championship debut, underlined his influence with a goal of the tournament contender after curling a 25-yard strike into the top left corner in the 21st minute to equalise for Spain following Randa Kolo’s eighth-minute opener for France.

That strike seemingly signalled a momentum shift for the former champions who scored their second four minutes later through mercurial talent, Dani Olmo in minute 25 to make it 2-1.

Despite chances for both teams in the second half, the line remained unchanged as the 2012 winners continued their trod for a third European crown.
