A 24-year-old man from the community of Tivoli Gardens has been charged by the Kingston Western Police in connection with the death of his 8-month-old daughter.

The accused, Darren Wittick, has been charged with manslaughter and child neglect arising from the December 19, 2022, death of his daughter.

Based on police reports Wittick was reportedly giving his daughter a bath when he left her unattended. Moments later, the infant was found motionless in the tub.

The victim was subsequently rushed to the Bustamante Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Wittick was later charged after the autopsy revealed that the child’s death was a result of drowning.

Meanwhile, the accused is slated to appear in court at a later date where he will answer the charge given.
