Reggae Legend Marcia Griffiths, Masicka, Shenseea, Mr Vegas and Jaz Elise are among Billboard’s Reggae/ Dancehall Fresh Picks of the Month for April.

Reggae dub singer Jaz Elise makes her debut on the list with “Gunman.”

The track is described as a “dramatic mixture of R&B and Reggae,” in which the singer highlights the emotional turmoil of being with a rude boy as she pleads for him to leave the life of criminality behind so they can comfortably settle down without worrying about his demise.

The relatable track is the second release in the trilogy about the journey of how the love story begins and ends with the follow-up titled 6ft, set to be released in short order.

Marcia Griffiths makes her entry among Billboard’s picks of the month with “Looking Up.” The iconic Reggae singer delivers a soulful chant of gratitude to the most high in a reflective yet relatable message, which is perfectly cradled in Reggae praise. The track also shows her smooth yet powerful vocal condition remains intact and just as delightful to the ear.

Dancehall ‘top striker’ Masicka joins the lineup of stand-out songs with his 2023 release “Forever.” The single, which forms part of his critically acclaimed “Generation Of Kings” (GOK) album, made an impact among selectors for its compelling introspection and self-assuring sentiment of focus, growth and gratitude for success.

Shenseea also makes this month’s list of Fresh picks with the single -“Neva Neva.” The single is the latest release from her upcoming sophomore album, “Never Gets Late Here.” The Reggae/ Pop infused track has received positive feedback thus far, and the addition of the single is an encouraging sign ahead of the album’s May 26 drop.

Dancehall star Mr. Vegas makes the Billboard list for his dance-inspired “Dancing Grung.” The catchy instructional dance tune adds to his catalogue of popular drops in recent times like “Money Mike Walk“, based on the viral walk-through by local businessman Micheal “Money Mike” Millwood.

Reggae singer Etana is also a notable selection for April with her release “Thankful” on the Engraph Riddim. The unwavering message of gratitude, joined with her captivating vocals, makes for an interesting listen.

Legendary singer Mykal Rose is also part of the listing with Subatomic Sound System and Hollie Cook collaboration -“Get High”
