Dancehall stars Mavado, Chronic Law, and Valiant are among Billboard’s selections for its Dancehall/ Reggae Fresh Picks of the Month.

Recent releases from the dancehall heavy hitters were enough to earn spots among the freshest tracks for October, according to Billboard.

Mavado, who has been steadily reaffirming a strong presence within the local dancehall space, grabbed the attention of Billboard with his track “No Sorry“.

The single is a gritty, unapologetic reflection of the ‘Gully Gad’s’ journey and decisions on his way to becoming a success story.

A similar theme of raw reflection and self-affirmation is underscored in Valiant‘s selected track ‘Beer and Salt’.

The single, seemingly recorded as a response to haters harping on the low moments of his career, was a hit among his fans and topped YouTube trending in Jamaica days after its release.

From personal introspection to social commentary, Chronic Law‘s take on the current state of affairs in society and inference to his own experiences provides chilling insights into a cyclical plague of volatility on his track ‘War Cycle’.

Reggae/Dancehall singer Zagga has also earned a highlight for his track ‘Believe and Pray.

The single is a refreshing injection of holding steadfast to faith and the power of belief and allowing God to guide one’s journey through temptation and sometimes treacherous paths in life.

Mystic Marley, the granddaughter of King of Reggae Bob Marley, also delivers upbeat vibes on the list with her Nailah Blackman & Walshy Fire featured track ‘Jump.’

Fast riser Khalia and Dancehall Juggernaut Shaggy also provided an exciting collaboration on Billboard’s picks this month with their track ‘Double Trouble’. The single presents a well-balanced reggae dub track with a dancehall cadence that entertains and gives an easy groove.

Fellow fast riser Roze Don and dancehall stars Intence and Teejay were also among the ‘Freshest Picks’ by the publication.
