Two male prisoners at a correctional facility in Fortaleza, Brazil reportedly attempted a daring escape by disguising themselves as women with the intent of walking during visiting hours.

According to reports, Francisco Átila da Silva and Carlos Antônio da Silva Oliveira, suspected members of a criminal network in Ceará, plotted their escape attempt during conjugal visitation at the prison.

The two men wore long black-hair wigs, pink skirts, and white t-shirts and improvised breasts, to further conceal their deception.

The disguised criminals tried mingling with real women at the end of visiting hours to reduce the risk of being noticed by prison guards. However, the rouse was caught by the authorities and the two men were detained before having the chance to escape.

Brazil’s Civil Police is currently investigating how the inmates obtained the female disguises, and whether they were aided in any way by other people.

It’s understood that an investigation has been launched into the matter to find out how the inmates obtained the female disguises, and if they were aided by others including officials in the facility.
