A lawyer representing Prince Harry on Tuesday, May 16, argued in a London court that the Prince should be allowed to challenge the government’s decision that denies him the right to pay for police protection whenever he visits the United Kingdom.

The Duke of Sussex, has six cases pending in court that center around two issues: his security and claims that British tabloids hacked his phone and unlawfully obtained other information about him.

Harry’s high-profile phone hacking trial against the publisher of the Daily Mirror is underway before a different High Court judge.

The matter was brought to Court against the backdrop of the British government ending its provision of security services for Harry after he and his wife, Meghan, quit their royal duties and moved to California in 2020 to find happiness and peace.

The hearing in the security case is centered around Harry’s claim that he does not feel safe bringing his children, Archie, and Lilibet, to visit his home country without proper police security detail.

Additionally, while he has security in the U.S., the team does not have jurisdiction or access to intelligence in the U.K..

Harry recently visited the United Kingdom as he attended his father, King Charles II’s coronation.
