Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return to another major tournament final after scoring the winner for Portugal in their comeback 2-1 semifinal victory over Germany in the Nations League game on Wednesday.

The goal, which was Ronaldo’s 137th international strike, came in the 68th minute as he expertly steered through a pass from Nuno Mendes, to give Portugal the lead after Francisco Conceição’s 65th-minute volley levelled proceedings after going behind courtesy of a 48th-minute J. Kimmich strike.

That goal proved the final say in an intense encounter, which not only sealed a stunning comeback by the former European Champions but also granted them a ticket to another championship final.

They will now face the winner of the France versus Spain semifinal set kick-off on Thursday.
