A 24-year-old Russian woman recently got the shock of her life after discovering she is registered married to an Egyptian man for the past two years after losing her passport.

According to reports, the unidentified Russian woman reported her lost passport following a summer trip in 2021. However, she didn’t bother to renew her travel document.

It’s understood that the need for renewal wasn’t pressing, which led to her delay. However, earlier this year, while trying to obtain a birth certificate for her child, she was stunned to learn that her “husband,” an Egyptian named Mostafa, needed to be present.

The bewildered woman declared her obliviousness to Mustafa, let alone being his wife, but Russian records listed him as her husband.

While it remains unclear whether Mustafa found the passport or purchased it on the black market, it’s reported that the Egyptian national used the document to apply for a temporary residence permit in Russia.

The document contained a note about the alleged marriage that happened in 2022.
