Following reports of disapproval cited by members of the entertainment fraternity for her upcoming stint in the Pride Toronto 2020 LGBTQ Festival, Dancehall Queen Spice has taken to social media to voice her concerns.
In her statement, she noted that the recent unraveling of events is not only a stab in the back but serves as an opener to high levels of hypocrisy that is plaguing the music industry.
She notes that her performance in Pride should be viewed as an act of homage towards her fans.
“I love all my fans, no matter what race or their sexual preference, it is not my decision to make. So if you’re upset because I’m performing at a pride event when you’ve been working for different pride organizers all your life?” Spice said in utterances made yesterday.
She also stressed that her performance at this upcoming event should not be deemed as an avenue of self–hatred but as an avenue to make a decent bread. “I never told you that I wanted to be white or Spanish looking, I’m extremely happy just the rich way I am. So stop the madness”, she added.
She also purported that artists should be more concerned with the image that they portray in the public sphere as opposed to being bombarded with trivial matters.
“The amount of your male artist friend that you have that have girls kissing girls in music videos and singing about 3 sums, it wasn’t homosexuality then or ruining the culture?” Spice asked. She further stressed, “Or is it only homosexuality when it is not pleasing you?”
Spice then noted, “All I want is for you to just make everything make sense, or is it only when a SPICE unu have a problem?”
