There might be tension brewing in the dancehall space between dancehall top-tier artistes Shenseea and Spice, following the release of her ‘Different Category’ track.

The song, which was released on Spice’s VEVO page, seemingly counteracts Shenseea’s recent release ‘Dolly’, according to social media.

Many fans were quick to underscore a line in the song where she referenced the subject of disrespect as a “battery dolly”.

“Mi nuh ordinary, mi inna different category, gyal affi a watch mi like a me a dem inquiry. Battery dolly, whole a dem just envy me,” the lyrics said.

Fans have wasted no time in trying to bridge a connection to Shengyeng’s ‘Dolly’ which was released earlier in January.

Both artistes have reportedly avoided each other for unspecified reasons over the years, which have led to many questions of seemingly developed tension between both camps.

In 2021, Spice addressed rumors of tension between the two artistes on her Instagram live, where she spoke about a failed collaboration and the froth relationship with manager, Romiech Major.

“Di collaboration did fi happen yeh but it never happen because a di big belly man,” Spice said. “The man walk an drag him mouth pon me and seh a bagga tings bout me and me hear back,” she added.

The live essentially stated that the ‘dancehall queen’ had an issue with the manager instead of the artiste herself, in which she stated that both shared mutual respect for each other before the situation took an unnecessary turn.

Fast forward almost one year later there seems to be a lingering trace of anxiety around the relationship.

Despite not making any direct reference to her musical colleague, fans have, however, deduced a more confrontational theme from the song.

“But wait… so is Spice calling Shenseea a battery dolly?” one person tweeted, while another commented, “Shots fired. Wooooii battery dolly.”

Neither have yet to come out and address the supposed confrontation.

The song has so far generated upwards of 125,000 views to be number six trending on YouTube.

Spice has been in past feuds with former dancehall juggernaut Lady Saw, who’s now a woman of the cloth as Minister Marion Hall.

Meanwhile, Shenseea has also been in a musical beef of her own with fellow dancehall front runner, Jada Kingdom, which has since been resolved.
