Trinidad and Tobago officially has a new Prime Minister following the official swearing of former Energy Minister Stuart Young as the country’s new Head of State at the President’s House on Monday.

The update comes hours after the resignation of former Prime Minister Keith Rowley officially took effect on March 16, making Young the country’s eighth Prime Minister.

On February 26, Rowley announced that he was stepping down from the post, marking his official departure from Politics.

Young’s installation was one of two major appointments at Monday’s ceremony, with the Twin Island also naming its new Attorney General- Camille Robinson-Regis, who was sworn in by the country’s President Christine Kangaroo.

More changes with the looks of the government are set to come within the day following reports that a new cabinet set to be announced by Young this afternoon.
