Shelly-Ann’s past school renamed in her honour

Penwood Early Childhood in Kingston was renamed The Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Early Childhood Institution in honour of the five-time World 100m champion, who was a past student.

“I’m excited to announce that the very place I started my journey, where I learned my ABCs, and ran my first race- Penwood Early Childhood is now The Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Early Childhood Institution!!!” an ecstatic Fraser-Pryce shared in a captioned video on her Twitter timeline on Monday.

“They were like my second family; always there to support me way before I even knew I was going to become an elite athlete… so I’m giving back in as many ways as I can,” she continued.

Fraser-Pryce, who has earned several accolades and honours throughout her career, would no doubt hold this honour close to her heart which is a representation of both academic and sporting excellence.

Given the trove of achievements attached to her legacy easily creates inspiration for the next generations of pockets rockets.

Following the stop at her infant begins the Two-time Olympic sprint champion also passed by her secondary alma mater- Wolmers High school for girls.

 The honour adds to a stellar year for Fraser-Pryce, after claiming a record fifth 100m women’s sprint title at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon as well as the 2022 Diamond league crown in the event.
